Getting a Job
As a learner at Community Systems you will have unlimited access

All our staff are dedicated to helping you get the right job and it is our first priority to support you in getting there.
What Job?We all want to have a job we enjoy and get satisfaction from. The “right” job depends on what you want from it: a challenge, excitement, good relationships with colleagues, and, of course, money. No matter which course you are on, you will receive an initial one-to-one interview with our experienced Job Brokers. We will look at your skills and experience and work with you to decide the “right” job for you. We will also look at any barriers that may affect your chances of success and agree an action plan to overcome these and succeed! Job SearchingAll our centres give you free and full access to job searching facilities. There are thousands of job vacancies posted every day but finding the right ones is not always easy – some may not even be advertised. Our staff will help and encourage you to job search effectively. We can help you use computers to access thousands of suitable jobs and give you tips on other places to look. Our Job Brokers will also actively look for the vacancies you are interested in, using a wide network of contacts from large national employers to local employers and community groups. How to ApplyDo you have a CV? Do you find it difficult to write application letters and fill in on-line application forms? Do they say what you want to say and the employer wants to hear? Nervous on the phone? We take you through all the different ways you can apply for work. Helping you to create CVs and make applications that will get you interviews. Or maybe a phone call to the right person will get you there? We run short courses on all these techniques and embed them within all our training. Interview TechniquesWhat you say in an interview is, of course, very important but the way you say it and the way you present yourself can be just as important, if not more so. We provide training in all aspects of interviewing: active listening, presentation, body language and what the employer wants to hear and how to say it. First Days in EmploymentAnyone can feel nervous or worried about starting a new job, especially if you haven’t worked for a while. Our Exit and Aftercare Officers provide support in your first days. If you need help completing work forms, or just need someone to talk to you we can provide support to help you thrive in your new job. Placement and Job VacanciesWhether you are eager to get straight into a paid job or feel a work placement or trial will help you gain confidence and experience, all our training centres have a bank of full and part time jobs and job placement opportunities – and friendly, experienced staff on hand to help you take those opportunities. |
