Where We Came From

A Brief History

The organisation started in 1988 as a general one-person consulting company to training providers who were in the first stages of developing competence-based programmes of training.

In 1992 Community Systems won its first contract under the Employment Action Initiative and established itself first of all in small offices in January 1992, moving in the May of that year to its present location. We have operated from our Finchley Central training centre since May 1992. During that time we have gradually grown from 60 starts to almost 1000.

Our staff have traditionally been recruited from within the ranks of our learners. The reason for recruiting from within the ranks of those who train with us stems from the basic principle that those who have experienced unemployment themselves will most appreciate the starting point of those wishing to re-train to find employment.

Increasingly, as the company grows we have been recruiting other individuals who are currently working in related, specialist fields and/or who have general and specific business knowledge.

In September 1998 Community Systems opened a second centre in Tottenham. Serving the Tottenham, Wood Green, Hornsey and Finsbury Park areas, and offering a similar diet of training to the local client group.

In June 1999 Community Systems opened an office at Wembley Park at the request of North West London TEC. This centre offers service in the boroughs of Brent and Harrow. In 2001 we obtained a contract with the London Central District of JobCentre Plus.

In 2003, at the request of the London North District of JobCentre Plus, we commenced delivery of training in Enfield town centre and since then have gone from strength to strength and now have premises throughout London and South East England.
